Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who is a good client for CranoSacral therapy (CST)?
Anyone who’d like to feel better. There are very few contraindications (reasons not to do treatment) to CranioSacral therapy (CST), and Susan will ask you about those when you contact her to schedule your first session.
  • How will I know if CranoSacral therapy (CST) is helping me?
Typically, after 1-2 sessions, you’ll notice some shifts like a reduction/change in your pain, better breathing, better sleep, improved digestion. And after 3-5 sessions, you’ll know if CranioSacral therapy is right you.
  • How much does a session cost?
Susan’s fee is $150 per hour (no tipping). Your first session will be for 90 minutes ($225). And after that, you can choose either 60, 75, or 90 minute sessions.
  • How does payment and insurance work?
Insurance, Scheduling, & Getting the Most Out of Your Session
  • How long are the sessions?
Your first session will be for 90 minutes. And after that, you can choose either 60, 75, or 90 minute sessions.
  • How often should I come?
You and your health situation are unique, but here are some generalized recommendations: Relief Care For support after a recent injury, upset, or surgery - weekly sessions as needed to help speed your healing. Once progress is seen, your sessions can be spread out as needed. For help with chronic pain or dis-ease - 3-5 weekly sessions to begin relieving your symptoms. Corrective Care After completing any needed Relief Care, 3-5 biweekly sessions to begin addressing the root causes of your pain. Wellness Maintenance Care For maintaining your overall wellness – sessions every 3-4 weeks, or whatever feels best to you. For seasonal issues – 2-3 weekly sessions coordinated with the change of seasons. To give CranioSacral therapy a try so that you can see what the heck it is – 1 or more sessions.
  • How many sessions will I need?
As described above, each person’s health situation is unique. After your first session, Susan will make recommendations as to your optimal course of treatment. The decision as to how to proceed is always yours. Susan will never ask you to make a commitment to her, but she'll invite you to make a commitment to yourself...to feeling better.
  • What should I expect during my first session?
Prior to your first CranioSacral therapy (CST) session, you’ll fill out a HIPAA-compliant online intake form. The more detail you can provide about your health history and treatment goals, the better. Susan will review that form prior to your arrival. Your first session will be for 90 minutes. Once you arrive, Susan will escort you to her treatment room. This space is totally private, quiet, and is dedicated entirely to creating a relaxing, healing experience for you. You and Susan will sit and talk for 10-15 minutes before you get on the massage table. You’ll get to ask any questions you have, and Susan will get some insight as to who you are as a person and what matters to you. She’ll ask about how your pain has impacted your daily life, and what activities/life passions you’d like to be able to pursue again or more fully. When you’re ready, you’ll lie down fully clothed on the massage table, usually on your back. The table is heated and is heavily padded for your comfort. Susan will conduct approximately 60 minutes of whole-body evaluation and treatment using very gentle pressure – usually 5 grams, which is the weight of a nickel. You’re invited to ask questions or offer feedback at any time. You can actively participate or simply settle back into your body and enjoy the experience. Treatment is tailored just for you. It’s all about you. It’s only about you. When the treatment is done, you and Susan will again talk for 10-15 minutes to discuss how you’re feeling, what you’ve noticed, and to answer any questions. Susan will make recommendations for follow up and for things you can do at home to support your healing process.
